Our Lineage & Territory
The Inga of the Putumayo
We are the Inga people, keepers of the Ambi (medicine) and speakers of Inga Kichwa. Our history is woven into the canopy of the Amazon and the roots of the Andes. We view ourselves not as owners of the land, but as its guardians.
Our Sacred Geography
Our village, San Miguel Castellana, is uniquely situated. The Río Alguacil brings clear mountain runoff from the highlands, which merges into the deep, mysterious currents of the Putumayo River. This balance of alpine clarity and lowland depth reflects our approach to healing: structured, deep, and purifying.
Meet the Taitas
The spiritual pillars of our community are our elders. When your group sits with us, you are protected by the wisdom of elders who understand how to navigate the spiritual realms and read the pintas (visions) of the Yagé.
The Sacred Medicine: Yagé
More Than a Vision: A Remedio
In the West, Yagé (often known as Ayahuasca) is sometimes viewed as a psychological tool or a psychedelic experience. To the Inga, Yagé is El Remedio (The Remedy). It is a living, conscious entity—a teacher that cleanses the blood, corrects the mind, aligns the spirit, and heals the physical body.
Our Medicine Preparation
Harvested with Intention: The Yagé vine and Chacruna (or Chagropanga) leaves are harvested from our own communal forests, accompanied by traditional prayers.
Cooked with Fire and Prayer: The medicine is brewed over several days by the Taitas and community members, infusing the liquid with songs (icaros) and continuous spiritual intention.
Purity Guaranteed: We never mix our medicine with modern additives or extraneous plants. It is pure, potent, and handled with absolute reverence.
